Remdesivir

 Remdesivir is an antiviral drug that is being researched and is thought to have the potential to treat Corona virus infection or COVID-19. Remdesivir is a broad-spectrum antiviral that has been studied for Ebola, MERS, and SARS.Until now, there is no truly effective drug to treat Corona virus infection or COVID 19. A number of drugs, including remdesivir, are being studied further to ensure their effectiveness and safety in dealing with this viral infection.

Precautions Before Using Remdesivir

-Do not use remdesivir if you have an allergy to any of the ingredients or ingredients in this medicine.

-Do not use remdesivir if you have kidney disease or liver disease.

-Do not use this medicine if you are on dialysis.

-Do not use remdesivir if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Immediately see a doctor if you experience an allergic reaction to a drug or overdose after taking this drug

Dosage and Usage of Remdesivir

To date, very limited data is available on the dosage of remdesivir to treat COVID-19.

In several trials conducted, the dose given was 200 mg on the first day, followed by 100 mg on the second day and thereafter. Duration of treatment in this study ranged from 5–10 days.

Interactions of Remdesivir with Other Drugs

Using one drug at the same time as another drug can cause interactions, as can remdesivir. Current data suggest that remdesivir should not be given with other antiviral drugs that are also being tested against COVID-19, such as lopinavir and ritonavir.

This antiviral class of drugs is available as an injection. This prescription drug should only be injected by a doctor or by medical personnel under a doctor's supervision.

Remdesivir Side Effects and Dangers

As mentioned above, remdesivir is still in the pilot phase. Therefore, the side effects that may arise due to the use of this drug are not yet known.

Remdesivir for pregnant and lactating women ;Category X: Animal and human studies have shown fetal abnormalities or a risk to the fetus. Drugs in this category should not be used in women who are or have the possibility of becoming pregnant. It is not known whether remdesivir can be absorbed into breast milk or not. If you are breastfeeding, do not use this medication without first consulting your doctor.
