When a servant of Allah dies, all his amalyahs are cut off except for three matters, namely: almsgiving, useful knowledge and prayer of pious children. As stated in a hadith of the prophet which strengthens this opinion, which states that three things that will not be broken are the amal Jariyah, namely almsgiving, useful knowledge and the prayers of pious children. This hadith was narrated from Abu Hurairah ra in the hadith narrated by Imam Muslim, Rasulullah SAW. said: "When a man dies, all his deeds will be cut off except for three things, namely; almsgiving, a knowledge that is useful and the prayer of a pious child who prays for him (his parents)."
1. Almsgiving Jariyah
Almsgiving is the giving of something from a Muslim to those who have the right to receive it sincerely and voluntarily without feeling forced and only expecting the pleasure of Allah SWT. While almsgiving is giving things that benefit will be felt continuously. such as land waqf for the construction of mosques / prayer rooms, the giving of books / mushaf alquran, to educational institutions such as Islamic boarding schools whose benefits can be felt by others continuously, the rewards will continue to flow even though we have died.
2. Useful Science
Quoted in the book 'Educating children: reading, writing and loving al-qur'an' by Ahmad Syarifuddin explained that a father and mother who are active and diligent in educating the al-qur'an to their children so that their children are good at reading al-qur 'an, understand and practice it. Both of them will get special awards in the afterlife.
In a hadith it is stated,
"Whoever reads the Koran and practices it, his parents on the Day of Judgment will be clothed with a crown whose light is better than the sun's rays through the houses of the world." (Narrated by Abu Dawud and al-Hakim from Mu'adz bin Jabal. Sahih. Al-Matjarur-Rabih p. 524 number 1084).
3. Prayer of the Sholeh Children
Prayer for both parents is a form of love and a form of filial piety for both parents that a child can do to his deceased parent and continue to provide kindness to his parents. Prayers of a child will continue to flow for goodness and benefits and good rewards for both parents when other deeds have been cut off.
From Abdullah bin Umar RA, Rasulullah SAW said: "The pleasure of Allah depends on the pleasure of both parents and Allah's wrath also depends on the wrath of both parents." (Narrated by At-Tirmidhi (no. 1900)).
Allah SWT says in Surah Al-Ankabut verse 8 it is stated:
وَوَصَّيْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ بِوَٰلِدَيْهِ حُسْنًا ۖ وَإِن جَٰهَدَاكَ لِتُشْرِكَ بِى مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِۦ عِلْمٌ فَلَا تُطِعْهُمَآ ۚ إِلَىَّ مَرْجِعُكُمْ فَأُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
Meaning: "And We oblige humans (to do) kindness to two mothers and fathers. And if both force you to associate Me with something that you do not know about, then do not follow both of them. Only to Me will you return, then I will. tell you what you have done. " (Surah Al-Ankabut: 8).
